英文和訳問題は何を求めているのか？ 学生時代、英文和訳の問題を何度も解かされた方は多いと思いますが、その度に議論になるのが逐語訳（直訳）か意訳かということです。これは出題者側の意図によって変わってきますから、入試問題の作成者はそこのところをきちんと示すべきですが、ここでは一般的な議論を通して、英文和訳問題の適切な解答はどうあるべきかを示そうと思います。 そもそも、英文を和訳するときには①英文を読解し、その上で②対応する適切な日本語訳を記述するという2つのステップを踏みます。 意訳は、 英語→意味→日本語 というステップを踏みます。すると、以下のような例文に対して、 (a) Customers …
